Pareata learns Taekwondo

Taekwondo

When we had Taekwondo Mrs. Robinson was our trainer. She first taught us how to punch. There was a low, medium and  a high punch.  When we had to punch we always counted in Korean. I will tell you how to count in Korean. Number one is hanah, two is dool, three is set,  four is net, five is dasot, six is yasot, seven is ilgop, eight is yadol, nine is ahop and ten is yool.

Next we had to learn how to kick. We learned how to do a high kicky, flicky kick and a jump kick. Mrs. Robinson told us that we could kick as hard as we wanted because the pads won’t hit us back. We learnt the five tenets of taekwondo and they were integrity, courtesy, self control, perseverance and indomitable spirit. We learnt how to break out when we are in trouble. We learnt how to break out in two ways.

In week eight our whole class had to break a board, but first we had to practice by hitting the pads for a warm up. When we broke the board some of the people in our class broke Mrs. Robinson’s machine, and Mrs. Robinson gave the people that broke her machine a growling. I broke a black board and it was very exciting because  I broke the hardest board that was there. I was so proud of myself when I broke a black board, it took me three times to break the board. Lastly Siua said ‘Thank you’, from our class to Mrs. Robinson.
