Lemon Cup-Cakes

Image result for lemon cupcakes
On the 12 of April 2016, our teacher, Mrs Tu’akoi had started the day by saying “Good morning class, today we’re going to bake some lemon cupcakes”. As soon as those words rushed through my ears I was the happiest person on Earth. My face lightened up and I was so determined to stay alert to our teacher’s instructions. Firstly, we had to form a line and headed to our school’s hall.

When I entered through the two doors I was amazed by the preparation that Ms Lammas had done for Rooms 7 and 8. When the amazement of the preparation had drifted away everyone went quiet and settled into their seats. As Ms Lammas took over she told us what to do step by step. First, we had to write our name onto our own cupcake holder. Then we had to write down the ingredients which is:
  1. 1 ¼  cup of sugar
  2. Rind 2 lemons
  3. 1c Lemon yogurt cupcake
  4. 2 eggs
  5. 1 cup of oil
  6. ½ tbs of salt
  7. 1 cup of yogurt
  8. 2-3 tbs of lemon juice
  9. 2 cups of self raising flour

Method:

  1. Grate the rind of the 2 lemons in a bowl
  2. Add the ¼ cup of sugar into the bowl
  3. Crack the two eggs into the bowl
  4. As well as pouring 1 cup of oil into the bowl
  5. The whisk it quickly until its combine
  6. Then add ½ a tsp of salt
  7. Add 1 cup of yogurt
  8. Then add the 3 tbs of lemon juice
  9. Then mix until combine
  10. For the last ingredient into the bowl which is 2 cups of self raising flour
  11. Then mix for one last time, but until it's all combined.
While Ms Lammas was doing the demonstration we watched very carefully. When it was our turn to do it, I was overwhelmed with the level of concentration from every single person in the hall. Then our cupcakes was ready to go in the oven and Mrs. Lammas kindly took care of that part.

Our class including Mrs Tu’akoi had been dismissed back to Room 7. While we were waiting for our cupcakes, we got told to finish off our incomplete work. The  whole class was patient for 10-20 minutes waiting for our cupcakes to be ready. I was extremely excited to hold the cupcakes in my hands.

Once I saw our class door open I sat quietly and waited for my cupcake to be handed out to me. As my cupcake stared me straight into my eyes, I could smell the elegant mixtures. The center seemed moist and delicate. I wanted to taste the scrumptious flavours, but wanted to save some at the same time.

I couldn’t resist saving it, so I plucked pieces of bit by bit. As I was enjoying myself I could taste the sensational flavours inside it. When I demolished the entire cupcake I was craving for more. I just want to thank Ms Lammas and Mrs Tu’akoi for preparing the day of experimenting and tasting. I hope another day like that, will occur sometime soon.

Equivalent Fractions Bingo

On the 13 of May I tried an activity called Equivalent Fractions Bingo. This game is bingo but the questions you have to answer are equivalent fraction. This game was very easy for me because I knew my fractions. As you can see above I got 4 correct, and my percentage I got out of all my attempts was 100% correct. If you’re willing to practice fractions, click here.

Number Conundrum Decimals

On an ordinary day I played an activity/game named Number Conundrum Decimals. This activity is all about adding and subtracting decimals. Some of the spaces are blank, therefor you have to solve the ones that are given to and the unknown. This game was very easy for me. If you click check it’ll check your answers. If it turns out to be red then it’s wrong but if it’s green then it’s correct. If you’re learning or want to learn about adding and subtracting decimals click here.

Triplets

Triplets is the name of this game. This game is all about equivalent fractions. Therefore if you know how to simplify this game will be quite easy for you. Triplets was very easy for me because I knew how to simplify, but the only thing that held me back was, I wasn’t fast to group the fractions into their pack. I managed to finish though and got them all into their groups. If you’re not that good with simplifying or you want to learn click here.
